From 13th to 14th of October, the “China-Africa Trade Union Leaders Seminar” sponsored by the ACFTU was held in Beijing. The theme of the seminar was sustainable development and the role of trade unions. Twenty-seven trade union leaders of 12 African countries, such as Ethiopia, Zambia, Malawi, Kenya, Sudan, Mauritius, Sierra Leone, Cameroon, Berlin, Ghana, Eritrea, Zimbabwe, came to China to attend the seminar.

        The ACFTU Vice-Chairman and Secretary of the Secretariat Xu Zhenhuan attended and addressed the opening ceremony. He expounded such important propositions of the Chinese trade unions as continually facilitating the sustainable economic and social development, constructing harmonious labor relations and promoting the harmonious development of the international labor union movement. He expressed that Chinese trade unions cherish the traditional friendship with African trade unions, attach great importance to the sincere co-operation with African trade unions and wish to promote the sustainable development and create a harmonious world jointly with African trade unions.

        During the seminar, the participants made positive discussions and explorations around the theme. The ACFTU Vice-Chairman and Secretary of the Secretariat Ni Jianmin attended and addressed the closing ceremony. After the seminar, the trade union leaders of the African countries went to Tianjin, Wenzhou and Shanghai for a visit.
